Listen to Rod Blum as Guest on blogtalkradio Thursday, Jan. 26
Rod Blum was the featured guest on “The Exceptional Conservative Show” broadcast on American Conservative Nation Radio Network on Thursday, Jan. 26. The show is hosted by Ken McClenton, who asked Rod about President Obama's State of the Union Address. Ken also asked Rod about Bruce Braley's denial that taxpayer money pays for abortion as part of Obamacare. Rod had just finished meeting with people at the Clayton County GOP Central Committee meeting in Farmersburg. To listen to the archived program, just click here.
Iowa County GOP Meeting. GREAT turnout at the Iowa County GOP Central Committee in Marengo. It was obvious at the meeting that this group of Republicans really care about the direction our country is heading. Replacing Bruce Braley is at the top of their agenda. Questions were asked about illegal immigration, reforming Congress and out of control government spending. I am looking forward to working with the good folks in Iowa County!
BlackHawk Caucus in UNI Dome. Shook thousands of hands of caucus goers at the UNI Dome. Really good conservative folks in BlackHawk County. Congrats to BlackHawk Chair Mac McDonald - everything went very smoothly.
Fayette County Caucus Dinner. I had a wonderful time speaking to the Fayette County pre-caucus dinner in Oelwein - what a tremendous group of Republicans! Had the pleasure to meet Dawn Givant, the County Chairman who is in the picture with me. And also great to spend time with Aunt Charlene, whom I met at the dinner. I'm looking forward to working with this group to limit government, unleash our job creators, establish term limits, and instill fiscal common-sense in Washington.
Cedar Valley Tea Party Straw Poll. Great time speaking at the Cedar Valley Tea Party Straw Poll event in Cedar Falls. Judd Saul and company do a great job of advocating limited government, fiscal common-sense and free markets.
Renewing the American Dream
Today many citizens view the American Dream as more of an entitlement than something to work toward. They wrongly believe there exists a shortcut to self-esteem and success.Pandering politicians relentlessly tell Americans that they are victims; that their station in life is not their fault. It's big business' fault. Or its the Republicans fault. Or it's special interests fault. Politicians always create a mythical boogie man - someone to blame; someone to be the bad guy.
Government is not the answer - look in the mirror - YOU ARE THE ANSWER.

46% of Americans think Congress is Corrupt
More than 46 percent of Americans believe Congress is corrupt. Too many lawyers are members of Congress, and when they write the rules, they know the way around them. It's about time Congress lived under the same laws and rules they pass for us. After Congress passed Obamacare, President Obama exempted four states, 1,231 businesses, 543,812 union workers, and members of Congress. That's just plain wrong, and I pray the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare. Congress should only have access to the same health care available to all of us. To read more, click here.
Just Say NO to Obama on Debt Ceiling Increase
While most people were taking down the Christmas tree and getting ready for the New Year, President Obama announced that he intends to ask Congress to raise the debt ceiling again. I urge the House Republicans in Congress to tell President Obama the same thing my parents told me. As I travel around northeast Iowa, I tell people when I was young and I asked my parents for something they just couldn't afford, the answer was 'No.' To read more, click here.
